ScHoolboy Q makes his return with a ground breaking announcement letting fans know that he is dropping a new album called "Blue Lips", which will be his first album in five years, and set a countdown to release on March 1. ScHoolboy Q also released 2 tracks called "Blue Slides" and "Back n Love" which is accompanied by brand new music videos that are taking over the internet. There was some confusion as to whether the album or just the first single would be published on that date, however two additional tracks were posted today, and Punch from Q's label TDE confirmed that the Carson, CA rapper's whole project will be released on March 1.
The new track "Blueslides" is an open letter to fans addressing ScHool Boy Q's long time away from the rap scene. Rapping over a solemn and jazzy rhythm, ScHool Boy Q raps about how several challenges, including losing a buddy to drugs and being taken advantage of by individuals he trusted, led to a fight with depression. He also quotes that "Been a prisoner in my own house, I don't know if they noticed / I done broke down so many times, next time it gon' catch me."The Track "Back In Love" shows us that the cali native hasn't missed a stride, with ScHool Boy Q rapping in a detached monotone about his improved lifestyle and poor competitors, The music video includes a lot of lovely home film footage of ScHool Q as a youngster.
