Rexx Life Raj, a Berkley native, has launched his fifth studio album The Blue Hour, following a difficult two years. Rexx has released a new single and video for his song "Save Yourself" ahead of its release. On the new song, he encourages the listener to fight for themselves because they are the only ones who have them in the end. "Nobody's coming to help you," he sings. "You have to preserve yourself." He is seen in the accompanying image at home, taking peace in his own company. Later, he is spotted outdoors on a racetrack with a group of buddies. Rexx recorded a song called "Balance" before "Save Yourself," in which he laments the death of his parents. The Blue Hour will chronicle Rexx's healing progress over the course of the last roughly two years. In a statement, Raj stated, "This album is about transformation." "This album is about loss." This album is about feeling every emotion and not trying to avoid them. This past year and a half has been so crazy that I could write 20 more albums about it.
To losing his parents to leaving the locations that shaped him into what I want, all while attempting to preserve some kind of balance and sanity. I attempted to be as honest and deliberate as possible with my endeavor. It benefited me in ways I can't even describe. I hope it has the same effect on someone else."
