Logic - Tetris [Official Music Video]

After his tour announcement with Wiz Khalifa, the once retired rapper Logic is back with a two-pack of songs and a visual for “Tetris”. As a loyal Logic fan, this phase of his career has been slightly confusing for me. Logic’s 2020 album No Pressure is terrific in my opinion, with many heartfelt moments and top-tier instrumentals. In 2021, the Maryland rapper came out of retirement and released the utterly forgettable Bobby Tarantino 3. Saying that I was frustrated is an understatement, the quality of Logic’s music has changed drastically a few times within the past five years and at this point of time I have no idea what to expect from him. Logic has been teasing a new album titled Vinyl Days and with this “Tetris/Decades” release, I have a slight bit of hope that this project will have replay value. I just hope that the project has some direction and that Logic isn’t releasing music just to release music.

Logic has been going through it with his label Def Jam Records during this recording process. Logic went on Instagram and stated that Def Jam is “fucking up” his work, he said Def Jam wanted to release these two tracks as separate singles instead of a two-pack. Logic also stated that Vinyl Days WILL(?) release in June.

“Tetris” is a J Dilla inspired track that finds Logic going back to his roots with his braggadocios rap style. This short track is filled with nostalgia and was produced by longtime collaborator 6ix and Logic himself. I love the faintly muffled vocals from Logic, it gives the track an even more retro feel. On “Tetris”, Logic flows about where he stands in the rap game. The music video finds Logic hopping off a plane and traveling through a city while aggressively rapping into the camera. There are even a few shots of Logic walking around Def Jam headquarters. Check out the “Tetris” music video below.
