A tough-rhyming rapper whose approach is equally effective over jagged and smooth productions, Little Simz is also known as an actor for her recurring roles on the BBC's Spirit Warriors and E4's Youngers. Her early career consisted of underground releases such as 2014's E.D.G.E. and Blank Canvas. Simz's official debut, A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons, arrived in 2015. Two years of intense touring followed, culminating in Simz's second album, 2017's Stillness in Wonderland, which alluded to her experiences in the music industry and her lifestyle on tour. She followed with 2019's GREY Area, featuring appearances by Cleo Sol, Chronixx, Michael Kiwanuka, and Little Dragon. A year later, Simz picked up her ongoing EP series with Drop 6. During the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in 2020, she started writing her fourth full-length, 2021's Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. As such, the album was even more reflective than usual, with Simz taking stock of her place in the industry, her personal relationships, and her perspective on society.
