Benny Sings is a Dutch singer, songwriter, and producer whose music combines arrangements and production that are influenced by organic hip-hop and downtempo electronic music with the bright melodic structures of classic pop, R&B, and jazz. The Amsterdam native launched a solo career with Champagne People after playing with other bands (2003). Since then, he has worked to perfect a fusion of jazz-pop, soft rock, and soul, drawing mostly on the work of Stevie Wonder, Michael Franks, and the Alessi Brothers. The fourth single from the Young Hearts album, "Pyjamas," starring Remi Wolf, follows the previous songs "Young Hearts," "The World," and "The Only One," and it is accompanied by a Remi Wolf-directed music video. Benny Sings' debut album, Young Hearts, was created with just one producer, beatmaker-to-the-stars Kenny Beats. Kenny encouraged Benny to work from his home studio in Los Angeles, where they would jam and write during the day, after the two of them connected over DM. They would riff off one another while interacting with others whom Kenny had invited and exchanging anecdotes, melodies, and impromptu lyrics. Benny says, “I’ve always loved bossa nova. I’ve listened to Getz/Gilberto by João Gilberto and Stan Getz over a million times in my life. This music is light, yet profound, and I love it. So to pay homage to this music on “Pyjamas”, together with Kenny’s crazy drums, is a thrill for me.”
