Bas - The Jackie (ft. J Cole & Lil Tjay) [Official Music Video]

Dreamville’s Bas is back with another release and what presumably sounds like the first single off of his next album. “The Jackie” is inspired by the Jackie Robinson Parkway, a five mile road that connects Brooklyn and Queens in New York. This track is the East coast summer anthem that features J. Cole and Lil Tjay. Both Bas and Lil Tjay are from New York and Cole considers the city a second home, so this song hits directly at home for the three. Bas and J. Cole have been working a lot together this year so far, Bas appeared on Cole’s terrific album The Off-Season three times! The way Bas approached this track was perfect. The collaboration crosses fan demographics and I think all three rappers on this track work very well together. J. Cole starts the track off with an energetic hook while Bas and Lil Tjay go on to skate over the T-Minus produced beat. The rappers show off and rap about their wealthy lifestyles that include expensive cars. In the video you see J.Cole pick up Bas in a uber with a bunch of snacks and the two take off for a cruise. Throughout the video you see the three having a good time and turning up on the parkway with their crew. At the end of the video you see a cameo from comedian and Youtuber Mark Phillips who to say the least, is a big J. Cole fan. Cole gives him a honey bun, and drives off. If you’re an avid listener to Dreamville you know Bas and J. Cole are elite lyricist. This track was more laid back and fun and I love what they did. Check out the visual for “The Jackie” below.
