BabyTron - "Emperor of the Universe" (Official Music Video)

If you haven't heard about BabyTron yet, then you are truly in for a treat. The Crocs-wearing 21-year-old with a distinct Detroit drawl has established a distinctive presence in the business, having gone from a scam rapper to one of hip-emerging hop's superstars. In both his solo work and collaborations with his equally stupidly titled group S*****Boyz, his flow is difficult to replicate, hopping on and off the rhythm with deliberate deftness. In his tracks, he's established his own distinctive, freewheeling vocabulary, full of Detroit slang, basketball references, and references to freestyle sounds from the 1980s. "Emperor of the Universe" is a behemoth that finds BabyTron tackling 21 beats over nearly six minutes. He's done this sort of thing before, namely on "King of the Galaxy" and "Prince of the Mitten," but much like an emperor to a prince, this version manages to supersede them all.

Baby Tron also enjoys beat-shifting whirlwinds that highlight the diversity of his flow. "Emperor of the Universe" is a monster, with BabyTron tackling 21 beats in under six minutes. He's done it before, on "King of the Galaxy" and "Prince of the Mitten," but this rendition, like an emperor to a prince, manages to outdo them all. He raps over decades of the finest beats, ranging from Yeat's "SORRY BOUT THAT" from last year to Waka Flocka Flame's "Hard in Da Paint" to the legendary "Still D.R.E." piano riff.
