We have seen many rap groups try and make some noise in this game, but I don’t think there is any group to pop out like AG Club. The Bay area collective consists of lead vocalist Baby Boy, Jody Fontaine, and Mick Antony who met in high school. They spent most of their time listening to and picking apart music like any other friend group. They also have members that handle things like graphic design and music videos. This group comes with an undeniable energy and chemistry that is sure to grab ahold of you. Their sound is so unique, catchy, authentic and is the result of their inspirations growing up. You hear a lot of things from video game bits to references of many of their favorite movies and artists. The crew has a cadence & swagger that fits right in with the independent California sound. AG broke onto the scene with their hit single “Memphis”. The song was playlisted like crazy and the group eventually connected with A$AP Ferg and NLE Choppa for the fire remix. This year they released their debut album F**k Your Expectations (FYE) in two different parts and can I say it’s one of my contenders for album of the year. The group displays their versatility, bouncing around and putting out many different sounds but the album as a whole is still so cohesive. “NOHO” is off of the first part and features ICECOLDBISHOP. Jody Fontaine blesses us with another strong verse to begin this hyper aggressive collab. ICECOLDBISHOP comes in and brings the track full circle. AG got some of the best visuals out right now, they’re truly just having fun with it. The video is stunning, and the group is basically performing an exorcist ghostbusters style.
